RP drivers have evolved to the 4th generation

The fourth generation of RP technology’s fully-driven planar diaphragm driver, which has been improved through 50 years of in-house technology, features an increased number of magnets that sandwich the diaphragm and a newly designed pattern shape for the printed coils in order to expand the vibration area of the planar diaphragm and make it more uniform. Furthermore, the components of the magnetic circuit have been redesigned to optimize the magnetic flux distribution, thereby suppressing unwanted resonance of the diaphragm and achieving a sharp response in the rise and fall of the sound.

50 years of in-house technology

The fourth-generation driver, developed by fully introducing various technologies cultivated to date, simultaneously achieves improved sensitivity, smooth frequency response for easy monitoring, and excellent transient characteristics. The new driver enables accurate and subtle reproduction of low to high frequencies, resulting in a more accurate sense of localization and reproduction of the sound field. In addition, as in the past, the new product is manufactured as part of the company’s own production process to provide reliable quality.

Comfortable earpads for a comfortable fit

The earpads are low-resilience, around-the-ear earpads for a comfortable fit, even over long periods of listening. The earpads can be fitted with optional Toray Ultrasuede® earpads (EX-EP-RP-SUEDE), which are sold separately. These earpads are soft and comfortable to the touch, and provide smooth, high-grade sound quality from low to high frequencies.

Easy re-cabling

Independent left-right Y-cable connection for easy re-cabling.
Connectors are provided on both the left and right housings, and a newly developed Y-cable connection is used. 2-pole 3.5 mm connectors improve re-cabling compatibility and increase versatility. The cable uses a high-quality sound OFC conductor.
Optional balanced cable φ4.4: ET-RP4.4BL2Y is available.
